Party #2

It still amazes me that my guy is 5 years old already!
We had lunch with Grandpa H, yesterday, because he had Fall Ball that evening. When we went to leave he gave Big T part of his gift. A scooter! He was so excited.
After lunch it was time for me to come home and make his cake. I am pretty happy with it. I wish I could have done more with it, but it still looks good.
Hubby and I had so much fun making Big T's gift. First he opened up a bag that had a belt with a frog for a sword, a helmet, and "boots".
Then he opened a bag with a new sword made by Papa.
And the last part to our gift....the shield. ("Just like Christian," Titus said.)
We had to wait to bust the castle pinata (I made it as well) until after Grandma B and our friends left. It was raining and didn't stop until later. But the children like it.
After bath time Big T wanted his knight outfit on again. The only thing I didn't make was the breastplate. I ran out of fabric. So for now, it is an old plastic shield with elastic attached.
He got too spoiled this birthday. His Grandpa and Grandma K gave him Leg0s (loved them), more knights, a horse, a science set, and a couple of other things. But he put his knight outfit on first thing this morning!

Last Saturday I had the chance to do something I had never done before. I put together a gingerbread house with my MIL and my children. My MIL made the gingerbread and then she had me help her assemble it and then decorate it. We didn't finish it all, but we hope to finish it this afternoon since she has the day off. I did it!

Yes, I did get up at 5am this morning. Two days in a row, that is a HUGE deal for me. Let's see if I can keep this up (but probably not on Sundays). Tomorrow will be the test. I am not the type of person that can sleep in two days in a row and then get up on time through the week. I am going to try to only allow myself (at first) to sleep in one day a week. We will see how that goes. ;) But, my quiet time the past two mornings has been wonderful! It's amazing how it totally changes my day. Today I was thinking about smiling. Do you know that people are drawn to a smile? It's true. Think about it. When you are out in a store or just out on a walk...there is something about a smile from someone. I guess it gives me "hope" that there are actually people out there with joy in their heart. Gotta wonderful sometimes with all the scowls I see.
