Because of You

I just had to share this because it is too funny. There is a song called "Because of You" by Keith Green that has a "special" effect on our children. When Little E is fussing in the car all we have to do is put this song in the CD player and after the first bar....he quiets down. I can only find a sample of the song here but you get the idea. The funny thing is that when Big T was a baby Keith Green had the same effect on him too. It's just funny to hear a baby cry and then when you hear the first few beats of a song they immediately quiet down. =)

SMART Habits Saturday

"Participate in SHS for 3 out of 4 weeks in May to be entered in a drawing for Speed Cleaning by Jeff Campbell and of course I will make you an Organizing Bag to put it in. I love the book and I love his products at The Clean Team . If you want to be entered in the drawing, e-mail me the links to your entries when you're done with three of them. That makes it so much easier for me and I'm all about my life being easier! " -Lara Okay...for the past two Saturdays I was going to make my bed everyday and the wash my sheets every week. Well...I still need a lot of help on making the bed everyday, but at least I am on the ball for washing the sheets. I washed the sheets earlier in the week since there was a chance of rain today and yesterday I went to a lot of yard sales. My new "habit" I hope to form is to floss my teeth everyday. Some times I do really well at this and other times it will be a week before I realize that I have done that. So wish me luck on my ol

Show and Tell Friday

Image
"Welcome to Show and Tell Friday!" Do you have a something special to share with us? It could be a trinket from grade school, a piece of jewelry, an antique find. Your show and tell can be old or new. Use your imagination and dig through those old boxes in your closet if you have to! Feel free to share pictures and if there's a story behind your special something, that's even better! Well today I decided I wanted to show off my Keeper At Home Uniform. I made this apron 3 years ago and I wear it almost everyday. It is very rare when I am not wearing it. The poor thing has a patched hole and both pockets have been ripped. They are currently being held together by safety pins because I have been too lazy to fix it. That...or maybe it's just because it gives it more character. I hope to make myself another one so I can have a "good" one and a "garden" one. It is a pattern from Sense and Sensibility called the Edwardian Apron . This apron is one o

Crazy Days

Image
Oh my! What a day I had yesterday. It started out simply...I was finishing up some loads of laundry I didn't get done the previous day and then it went crazy from there. My wonderful MIL called me and asked if they (My FIL and herself) could come over in the afternoon to take the children and I for ice cream. Well..I had a ton of cleaning to do, so I started racing around to get that done. Then I walked outside and got the surprise of my life. But before I get to that I need to give some "background." There have been a couple of cats around our house and in our yard. They seem to roam the neighbor hood and we have been "fighting" to keep them out. Well, they have even had a couple of fights in our backyard (not good when my children love to be outside) and one of the fights left substantial fur in our backyard. And I do mean that they left a large amount behind. Well Shad seemed to be healed up from his little surgery last week so we decided to leave him out ov

I don't know what it was, but I wasn't even close to making it a habit for the week. But I am going to work on it this week AND my next "habit" I want to have is to wash the sheets once a week. I know most of you are probably thinking that washing the sheets once a week is a given, but not in my house. That is just something I can't seem to remember to do. (Which isn't really gross since we shower before bed.)

Feel free to share pictures and if there's a story behind your special something, that's even better! For my show and tell today I thought I would show my garden to everyone. At least what I have accomplished so far. You can see from this post the start of my garden. Well, they are ready to be planted in! On Monday we went up to my BIL and picked up some posts and some composted manure. The posts don't look the greatest, but they are sturdy. They are hardwood posts that Kokosing Construction used to ship things from job sites and such. Hubby cut the posts and set them into place. Once that was done Big T helped to unload the composted manure into the garden for me. See.... After all

Quick update

I probably am not going to be able to do a "decent" post until Friday. We have been running around so much for the past few days and Hubby's Aunt passed away on Saturday. So last night we went to the calling hours and today is her funeral. Hubby is one of the pallbearers and I am going to have all 3 children to watch. But it will be alright. I will post on Friday....I promise. =)

SMART Habits Saturday

Image
(Are you wondering what SMART Habits Saturday is? Just check it out here . I have been looking at Lara's website for a long time and finally decided to join in on this. ) Okay...I have been wanting to be a part of this for a long time. I finally decided...I just need to start. There are so many things I need to work on, but I am going to work on making our bed every morning. I did well at this for about a month (6 months ago, but have failed.) So I will start to make it a habit today! Wish Me luck......as I start my journey with my SMART Habits Saturday with you all. :) (I am just going to start with this one and add on each Saturday.)

Your accent?

Image
What American accent do you have? Created by Xavier on Memegen.net Midland. The Midland (please don't confuse with "Midwest") itself is the neutral zone between the North and South. But just because you have a Midland accent doesn't mean you're from there. Since it is considered a neutral, default, "non-regional" accent you could easily be from someplace without its own accent, like Florida, or a big city in the South like Dallas, Houston, or Atlanta. Take this quiz now - it's easy! We're going to start with "cot" and "caught." When you say those words do they sound the same or different? Different Same, no wait I mean different, maybe, a little bit different... Same

Show and Tell Friday

Image
Yes, it is already Friday and of course that means it is time for show and tell . Last night I was thinking about what I would show today and decided on this. It is a pencil drawing my wonderful Hubby made me for my birthday one year and then added some Bible verses to it. I love my Hubby's drawings, I wish he would draw some more for me. =) Hint, Hint ;) Sorry for the glare. It is from the flash and the drawing is in a frame. It is a drawing of the woman who just wanted to touch Jesus. I think it's beautiful.

Busy Week

Image
I had a busy week..as I am sure most of you have. I sure know my friend Anna did. =) We went to visit my parents and my sister at my sister's house on Saturday. Spent a lot of time inside due to the rain, but the children handled it pretty well. I think Aunt S just about had a breakdown though...she is a clean freak and they kept making messes. :) (Wish I would have gotten that gene) Anyway, Hubby started to put my clothesline in the ground the day Big T got sick and we didn't have weather conducive to finishing the project until this week. He was able to put them in on Monday and I got to use them on Tuesday. Isn't it a beautiful sight?! =) After tackling that Big T and I decided to wash the car on Tuesday. He was a big help. Now all we have to do is get it put in the paper. (Note to self- should contact the paper today or tomorrow) Hopefully we can get it sold to get money back into savings. Anyway....it was a lot of fun having him helped (The other two were sleeping a

Laughing Quadruplets

I love to hear my Little E laugh. It is so precious, but you need to check this out. There is not one laughing baby...not two laughing babies...not three laughing babies....but there are FOUR babies laughing. It is absolutely adorable. Check it out HERE

Show & Tell Friday

Image
Today is Show and Tell Friday once again. I have had a lot of fun with this since Kelli started in a couple of weeks ago. I have shown some paintings my Hubby and I did and a picture of my son with our dog and my mother's dog. Today...I want to show you a piece of jewelry. For those that know me, this is probably a surprise since I don't wear jewelry, but this piece is very special to me. Their is "history" to this cross. My grandmother died at the age of 51 of colon cancer (I was 10). 12 years later my grandfather and step-grandma decided it was time to do something with all of grandma's gold jewelry. There are 14 cousins on that side, but only my sister and I ever knew Grandma Peggy (the rest were not born until after grandpa remarried a wonderful lady named Helen.) Anyway they purchased to gold crosses (one for myself and one for my sister) and had the diamonds taken from Grandma's wedding band/solitaire and had them placed on these crosses. I wore this

Recon

Image
I just thought I would share what I did for the past hour. Well, not real sure how long it took, but it wasn't long at all. I have been wanting a skirt to wear in the summer months. I really have my eye on a ankle length denim skirt, but that is practically impossible to find (unless you want it fitted...which I don't...I want flare). Anyway, after purchasing our van my funds are limited for a while. Well my mind started thinking about clothes I had in my closet. I remembered I had this maternity jumper in my closet. I wore this when I was pregnant with Big T but it was too short for my taste. I am about 5'10" so it is hard to find clothing long enough. It hits me slightly above mid calf and I would rather have it ankle length. Anyway....I decided to make a skirt out of it. So, instead of taking forever and ripping out the serged stitches...I just cut it like this. So now I had the bodice and the vest separated. Once I had that done I went to my machine and zigzagged t

Fellowship

Image
What a wonderful afternoon I had today. They ladies in our fellowship gathered together for a tea today. The main reason is that we will soon have two ladies leaving. One is going with her family to Guatemala for Language School and the other is leaving with her family to New York for 3 months. We all wanted have time to be together and fellowship with one another before "parting." The hostesses (the mother and her daughters) made wonderful food for us. I really enjoyed the raspberry parfaits...I think they were a vanilla type yogurt (maybe...Mrs. M correct me if I am wrong) layered with a raspberry sauce and topped with whip cream. YUM! Plus they were pleasing to the eye in tall elegant glasses. It was also enjoyable because older children from our church watched the little ones while we visited. The younger children ran races, swinging, going down the slide and having all sorts of fun. So it was definitely a Win-Win situation! The conversation was wonderful...we spoke about
