Our oldest niece just turned 15 this past Sunday. Isn't she a beautiful young Lady? She is such a blessing to our family. I believe that God has wonderful things in store for her. So, on to the "crafty" part....I wanted to make her something for her birthday. She is involved in many things- marching band, swim team (for school and summer swim team), violin, piano, etc. With school starting I was wanting to do something in school colors. So I decided to make her a headband and a coin purse for her bookbag (something she could take to ball games and to school). I really liked how they turn out and she seemed to enjoy them. I wanted to make the two sides of the coin purse different. First time I have ever used the pattern. I found it on the Sewing Mamas forum in the downloads section. The top two pictures are of me trying it on to make sure it would fit and then a wonderful picture of our niece trying it on. I also gave her the patterns to the coin purse and to the headband

Flea Update....

Yes, we are still fighting those tiny things! We have treated the yard 3 times.....Shad's pen 5 times and we spray various parts of the house, vacuum...everything they say you are supposed to do and nothing has worked. I caught a couple on Little E today and Hubby picked 2 off of me when I was outside. This is so frustrating! Hubby said that Shad had a ton of fleas again! So much for things supposedly "repelling" the fleas. What a bunch of lies! Oh!!!!!! I just can't stress enough of how aggravating this is! I sure hope these things go away soon. We can't keep them out of the house until we can keep them off of the dog. Prayers are greatly appreciated as our patience is being tried. :o)

Show and Tell Friday (8/24)

Welcome to "Show and Tell Friday!" Do you have a something special to share with us? It could be a trinket from grade school, a piece of jewelry, an antique find. Your show and tell can be old or new. Use your imagination and dig through those old boxes in your closet if you have to! Feel free to share pictures and if there's a story behind your special something, that's even better! Boy....time sure does fly! I can't believe I missed last week's show and tell. It took me a while to think about what I wanted to show today, but I think I finally came up with something. Now..this images where scanned almost a year ago. I found these at a yard sale 1 1/2 years ago. They are made out of what appears to be size 3 thread. They are not dishcloths, but are not heavy enough for potholders. So...what do you all think? Do you think they are just for decoration or are they used for something else?

Fleas!!!!

Yep...that's right...we are battling fleas. I know some of you may be wondering where in the world I have been lately. Well......I have had many long days battling these unwelcomed visitors. And no....the dog does not stay inside. They got in somehow and the poor dog is just having a terrible time with them. It was really bad the other day...Hubby went to check on the dog...only saw a few fleas, but then he lifted up his flea collar and a lot of fleas scattered. What is the point of a flea collar if it doesn't kill them!!!!!???? Hubby only saw one on Shad tonight though. Do you all remember this post ? I talked about the numerous bites I had on my foot. A friend of mine mentioned that they might be flea bites, but I never saw any. Now Big T has bites all over his back, chest, and a few on his neck. They are starting to fade away now, but every once in a while he has a new one. I have only seen two fleas so far today. Sweet E had one on her this morning and I caught one on me th

More Sewing....

Believe it or not I was able to sew a skirt for myself last week....AND....I also made a dress for Sweet E. I love this skirt pattern and hope to make one for fall very soon. I had more fabric left then I thought I would and decided to make Sweet E a dress to match. I also thought I would share a picture of Big T's 4th birthday cake...yes he did get four "cakes" this year. Oh well....but here is a pic of it and he really enjoyed it. :D

Ouch!!!!!

Yes, I realize that this isn't a wonderful picture to look at, ( at least my feet went covered in dirt yet) but I wanted everyone to know what the noise was earlier this morning. It was me saying YEEEEEOOOOOOOOOOW! And I also wanted to warn all of you that wooden children's rockers do bite. So be cautious...you never know when one is going to attack. :)

Show and Tell Friday (8/10)

Feel free to share pictures and if there's a story behind your special something, that's even better! I didn't know if I would find anything for today or not. But...I did! Do not worry. :D These are the first two dresses I ever crocheted for my Sweet E. The yellow jumper was tested for Crochet Garden and the second one is made of size 10 thread and was tested for Lullabies and Lace. You can find links to both of them in my side bar. I love these dresses so much. The thread one was put into her hope chest and I think I will save the yellow one in case we have another little girl someday. Now..I am off to see what everyone else is showing!

I thought I was original...

I really did! I thought I had an original idea when I made the Rice Krispie type cake. But I went looking on Wilton's website and look what I found. First..I saw this giant castle that the children would LOVE (it takes 7 batches though!) Then I saw these ... Then I just started looking around and fell in love with this , this , and this . Now...I probably would never purchase these pans (unless I found them at a thrift store or yard sale), but it gives me lots of ideas!

Sewing...

There has been a lot of sewing going on lately. I made pajama pants for Big T last week, his Jungle, "H" sewed a nightgown for Sweet E and today I made a skirt for myself. Now..I just have to decide whether I am going to make a dress for Sweet E, a jumper, or a skirt. Hmmmm...have to think about that one for a while. I just wanted to give an update...some people were curious. I have been dealing with my angry spirit creeping back in. I had it controlled a couple of years ago, but have let myself get further from the Lord and it creeped back in. Over the past few weeks the Lord has helped me to control my anger. I have my moments, but the Lord is working through me and I know that he will change me for the better. So...for all of you who have been praying for me...Thank you. It means a lot. :D

Happy Birthday Big T!

Today is Big T's 4th birthday! I can't believe how fast he is growing up. Four years ago it was just me and him at home during the day. Now he has to share time with 2 others. He is such a wonderful big brother. He helps me will Little E all the time. So...for his birthday I just wanted to share some pictures with you all.

Happy Birthday Sis!

Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to my Sissy! Happy Birthday to you! I hope you have a great 25th birthday! Love you and we had a wonderful visit with you yesterday. Thanks for coming. And for those of you who are curious....yep...I made her a cake. Well....sort of. I made a Rice Krispi* "cake" and then iced it. She really like it and so did everyone else. Here is a picture of the cake and a picture of Sis and Big T. This picture has nothing to do with my sister's birthday, but I just had to show it. When it was time for Breakfast Sunday morning this is what Sweet E came downstairs wearing. I thought it was too funny. A camo hat and a D*ra shirt. =)

Congratulations Brian and Sabrina!

I just received news that my best friend from "school days" just had her first child....a baby girl ! Her name is Mikaela and she weighed a whopping 9 lbs 5 oz and was 20 inches long. That is one big baby. Congratulations again to Brian and Sabrina....and to Jane ...I know she will be an awesome Grandma. =) Can't wait to hold her. ;)

Show and Tell Friday (8/3)

Your show and tell can be old or new. Use your imagination and dig through those old boxes in your closet if you have to! Feel free to share pictures and if there's a story behind your special something, that's even better! Today's show and tell was an easy choice. I wanted to show the 17 roses that my Hubby gave to me. Not only is that special but you should here the story of how they came about. My MIL was at the grocery store yesterday and there were a bunch of roses by the check-out. She commented to the cashier how pretty they were...here is what happened. MIL: "Those are very pretty." Cashier: "You want them?" MIL: "What?" Cashier: "We are just going to through them out tonight." MIL: "Sure....my residents would love them." (not sure if that's

Jungle Fever

Image
As I mentioned before Big T's birthday isn't until the 7th, but I had purchased fabric a couple of months ago from a "Mama" at the Sewing Mama's forum to make this. It is Big T's jungle and he loves it! I am so glad. Now he can play in the "jungle" any time he wants too. I made the side pieces shorter than I had intended (don't know where my brain was) but I think it turned out alright. That way it isn't too dark inside and he can at least see without a flashlight. Hope you all like it. I guess that I should also tell you that it is attached to the top bunk by button straps. (Thanks Hannah for your help on this!) I tried getting rid of his red eyes, but the program would only fix one, so I just left them red. It seemed really weird leaving one red and one not. The monkey is at home in his jungle! ;) Happy Early Birthday Monkey. I also wanted to show that there is also another way to wear the Mei Tei I made last week. I tried taking a picture
