Keeping Busy

Image
We are still alive and just like everyone else we have a lot going on. :-) But I wanted to share pictures for all of our family and friends that have been waiting patiently. (I Know...I know...I don't post enough.) First up is a picture of Special K of course! :-) I can't believe she will be 7 weeks old tomorrow! "Who...me?" "Yeah...I know I'm beautiful!" ;-) And this is the time of year to buy things for the children that they don't normally get. One of those things are nuts in the shells. It is pretty interesting to watch. Just as long as you pay attention in case you need to duck. Many nuts went flying across the room. LOL Oh well...this only happens one time a year and they have a lot of fun with it. Plus they learn there are more than just one kind of nut. :-) Next up is Little E as "Dee-Doe" Can you guess what is going on in this picture? Did you guess it? Yes..I did give the children two bags of kisses to unwrap. I know..I am nuts, b...

I love Homeschool!

After some struggles we had last week I figured this week would be best spent doing review and enjoying Autumn. So this week things have been focusing on this wonderful season. Yesterday we started working on a lapbook (not sure how it will turn out....first one I have done on my own->no instructions) and we made fall cookies. The children all took turns helping to make sugar cookies. They helped to roll the dough, cut the cookies, transfer to the cookie sheet, and paint them before baking. Here are some adorable pictures of the children. :o) Yummy!

Autumn Hike

Image
Today I decided to take the children for a hike since this would be one of the last nice days (weather wise) we would be having for a while. The children were excited to go back to Wolf Run. At first I had a hard time keeping up with the children because they started off running ;) (and I was carrying Little E.) They were so happy to walk the wooded trail this time. As we were walking one of the upper loops of the trail we came across a tree that, I am assuming, came down in a storm. But instead of breaking in half, or being uprooted, it...I don't know how to describe it.....it was twisted. It was so intriguing to see such a sight. I don't think I have ever seen anything like it before. I was a little disappointed in the lack of color on the trees. Almost half had already lost their leaves and there weren't too many reds/oranges. That's okay though, it was still a beautiful walk/hike. We walked for an hour which is more than enough for me since I carried Little E the w...

My Birdies

Image
Still trying to get back into a routine after being gone for the weekend. But I just wanted to show pictures of the children today. This week we have started talking about the letter N and nests (and other animal homes). So today the children wanted to build their own nest. They "flew" around the yard and picked up sticks. (They were pretending to be young eagles and I was the Mama Eagle.) They are so proud of their nest that I wanted to share the pictures with you. Here they are "flying" around the yard gathering things to make the nest. They even put leaves in the middle to make it more comfortable. :D They are so happy with it. And here is a picture of Little E just because he is so cute. ;o)

First, Second, or Third Field Trip!

Image
I am not sure what to call this. I guess our first field trip was to the Creation Museum, but school hadn't started. Then we did go hiking the other day, but I guess I just consider that a family outing. Anyway, Nana Snow had the day off from work so we all headed on down to Legend Hills Orchard to pick some apples. Sweet E kept saying, "Apples don't grow on trees" as she was pointing to the ones in our yard. No matter how much explaining we did nothing changed her mind until we got to the orchard. Now if you ask her if apples grow on trees she says, "YES, THEY DO!" :o) The children had a ton of fun picking apples. It was a joy to watch their facial expressions. I asked Sweet E to show me her apple and this is what I got. :o) Little E tried to pick apples at first, but when he couldn't pull them off he got frustrated and wanted nothing to do with the apples. After apple picking we headed back to Nana's house to make some applesauce and apple pie. He...

The outdoors....

Image
This weeks lessons has to do with the letter L and leaf. So, yesterday we went to a local park to collect leaves. It was hard to get the children to focus on collecting leaves because the loved following the trail and deciding which way we should go. It was hard to get in the van because they wanted to keep hiking, but we promised to take them again. Not done with our books yet...I will try and show that tomorrow. But here are a few pictures of our walk. Enjoy and have a blessed God filled week! :o) Picture of one of our obstacles caused by the storm.

The Moon..

Now that we have been back for a day we need to get back to our school lessons. Here are a couple of videos to help get back into school mode again and learn about the Moon this week. :D

Our Labor Day Trip **IMG Heavy**

It's 3 AM...Don't the children look so excited to be headed to North Myrtle Beach? ;o) I think this was about 6 am.....Sweet E was really tired. After 12 hours we finally arrive at Grandpa and Grandma's Beach house. Time for dinner and exploring their house and garage. And then time for an evening walk on the beach. Then on Saturday we took a field trip to Ripley's Aquarium . The whole family enjoys the aquarium (and I especially do since we now get a Homeschool discount when we go). This year they also had a pirate exhibit at the aquarium. (I think two years ago it was the Bermuda Triangle...or something similar) Then it was time for a quick dinosaur ride before heading back to spend the rest of the day at the beach. :D Notice that Little E is buried up to his hips. I think it took him more than 5 minutes to realize what Grandpa had done. :D Then it was time to bury the older two children. ;o) Sunday we attended church, went to the beach for a couple of hours and then...
