Buns Recipe

Okay, I have had people asking for the recipe I used to make the delicious hamburger buns. I got permission from the wonderful lady I got it from. (Thing is...she can't remember where she found it.) So...here goes. :D Homemade Hamburger Buns from BZV at Prairiehomemaker Forum 2 c warm water 5 TB sugar 1 1/2 TB yeast 1 1/2 tsp salt 1/4 c oil 5-6 c flour beaten egg white 1 TB water sesame seeds or dried onion flakes Combine the water, sugar, yeast, salt and oil. Add in flour until its a nice bread dough that doesn't stick to the sides. Knead 10 minutes. Oil bowl and dough and let rise until doubled in size. Punch down and knead the air bubbles out. Divide into 12 pieces for hamburgers or 18 pieces for hot dogs or brats. Roll between hands into correct shapes. Place on greased cookie sheet for 20 minutes to let rise (hot dog rolls should be squished together so they rise UP and not just out) Carefully brush with mixture of egg white and water and sprinkle with seeds or f...

In The Kitchen....

Image
Well...I have been having a lot of fun in the kitchen lately. At the end of last week I made a wonderful parsley salad...also known as Tabouli, or Tabbouleh, depending on how you feel like spelling it. I got the recipe from Mrs. M and it is a great salad! It has strong flavors but you really must try it. Here's a picture of it. Doesn't it look great! =) (and just a note...she uses 3 cups of parsley...I only use 2 and it's plenty for us.) On Monday, my helper and I made Blueberry-Banana bread. I don't have a picture of it, but it is awesome! I have had a couple of pieces everyday and so have the children. It's really good. Then today I made some refrigerator style pickles . This recipe also came from Mrs. M. I hope I did it right. How long do I need to let them sit until they are ready to eat? Anyway, here is a picture before I put the lids on. Don't worry I have a ton of pictures of the children I need to post. I hope to do some of that tomorrow. Blessings to ...

Cars and Mice

Image
No, this post is not about real live mice inside of cars. I wanted to post a picture of Hubby's "new" car. It took a long time, but we were finally able to find a car that we were looking for. Our friend, T, who is a mechanic/police officer looked it over and said we got a real good deal. I am very pleased with it and I think hubby is too. The Lord does provide if we wait on him. So, here is a picture of his commuter car. We hope this will last him for a long time and it will definitely save on gas as it gets around 37 miles ( highway) to the gallon. (and highway miles is what Hubby puts on it.) And yes....it's a standard...just what Hubby wanted. =) Then I also wanted to post a picture of some mice I made. My BIL birthday was earlier this month and I decided I wanted to make him a "treat" that he seems to enjoy so much and those are chocolate covered mice. I thought I would show you all how to make them too. First I take my maraschino cherries ( WITH stems...

Corndog Casserole

Image
Okay..there is probably something like this out there already, but I just wanted to share one of my "newest" creations that has turned into a favorite with my family. I came up with this because I purchased a lot of hot dogs because we were planning on having a family over for a cook out. Well...that is the week I hurt my back badly so they didn't come and I ended up with 20+ hot dogs to deal with. Well I came up with this little casserole that every one likes. I have even made it twice in a week and a half. First I cut the hot dogs into quarters lengthwise and place them in the bottom of the greased dish. Then I placed the dish in the hot oven while I mixed up my homemade cornbread. Once I had that made I sprinkled the hot dogs with shredded cheese and then the cornbread. Here is a picture of the finished product that my whole family loves! The first time I made it I put baked beans in the dish and topped it with the hot dogs and then cornbread. Hubby likes it with the ...
