A Couple of Projects

Image
So I am finally getting around to posting what Beloved and I made the other day. Here it is in all it's glory. LOL It's nothing spectacular. Just a bench. The chairs with our dining room table aren't holding up well. So we built this bench and it sure is sturdy! It can easily hold Big T, Sweet E and Little E. The children love it. We need to tweak the next one we make, but hope to get one made this weekend or so. Then I got tired of looking at this in my kitchen. The white curtains wouldn't aren't very white anymore. Plus it's sort of boring. I was wanting more of a 1940s color theme. I already have bright yellow walls so I went with blue and red for the curtains. I love the result. I would love to buy some more of this fabric. I found it at Marie-Madeline . It's from the American Retro line. Next up.....more sewing for Special K....I hope. I have the fabric washed I just need to get it cut out and sewed up. :-) Blessings to all!

Birthday Dress Done

Image
It is very late, but I wanted to show the birthday dress I finished this morning for Sweet E ( I guess it would have been yesterday morning now....) Anyway...just some quick pictures and I hope to post more tomorrow on here and our school blog. :-)

What's Pink and Black all over?

Image
The new jumper I finally finished for Sweet E. It took me way too long to get it started, but I finally did last night and finished it this morning. If you are looking for a quick and cute jumper for a little girl. This is it. You can find it at the Handmade Dress ...it's called the Miss Molly. Anyway, I had to have my sister find a plain black shirt for Sweet E because I couldn't find any her size. I love sewing for her because she gets so excited. She says, "Oh! Thank you Mama...I love it!" What's better then that? So when I went to take a picture of her in it....the model in her came out. ;-)

Sense and Sensibility Pattern

Image
I love these patterns and just found out that she is offering some of them as an epattern . So now you can have to opportunity to try one of her patterns out the same day that you purchase it. So Ladies, who doesn't enjoy buying a new pattern? ;o)

Finishing Up...

Image
I wanted to make sure that I shared pictures of what was started yesterday. Here is a picture of all 9 crayons we made. The "suns" are, obviously, the yellow and orange ones. When I was finishing dinner last night Beloved and the children helped by taking the clothes off the line. This is what I walked out to. Now...that is a great way to get laundry off the line. :D Oh...and then there was Little E. While the older two were helping with laundry...this is what he felt like doing. Still don't know what he did with his diaper. :D Oh, and then there was MY swimdress. First of all the pattern I had was not made for a woman who has gained 45 lbs. after 3 children. So I had to alter the top, bottom, and skirt quite a bit. Well, I got the top done (I was working on this after everyone was in bed.) Top "just fit" and then I got the shorts done......Good so far. The shorts fit well and then I had to alter the width and length of the skirt. Got the front out...went to c...

Count Your Blessings Monday (8/25)

Image
"I am giving us an opportunity every Monday to not only count our blessings, but to share them with others. This is a way that we can encourage one another. Make a post on your blog telling us about your blessing. Please put a link back to this post ( on her blog ). You can add the URL of your blog post on Mr. Linky below. Many of our blessings we will have pictures of and we can share those as well. I think that many times we forget that it is a blessing to be able to breath, to get out of bed, to hold a baby... Share your blessings with us. They encourage others. We can share so many other things.... special gifts, recipes, let's take the time to share how God has blessed us!! - Marci " It just keeps going, and going, and going, and going, and.......I have so many blessings to count today that I couldn't pick just one. I thank God for blessing me with my children, the ability to sew, for friends, for family, and the chance to homeschool. So I just w...

Family Reunion

Image
Today we had a family reunion, at my BIL's farm, for Hubby's Side of the family. (It would be my FIL's side). The family name is Easterday and I think they are from Austria originally. Anyway, we had a lot of fun so I wanted to share some pictures. First of all we were all asked to wear red, white, and/or blue. I bought the children some red shirts from a thrift store and did a reverse applique on them with their Initial and age. The children love them! I love them now, but wasn't loving them last night when they were giving me a hard time. At the reunion we have a time of sharing (this year we were to share what our favorite childhood toy was...lot of votes for bikes and big Wheels and a few for Leg0s as well. We also had the officially meeting and everything. Elisabeth didn't even notice that there was a meeting going on because she was to engrossed in what a cousin had caught...a toad. :D After the meeting all the children decided to go swimming. (Beloved went s...

New Dresses

Image
Who doesn't love getting new dresses? My Sweet E loves to get Mama made dresses. Well, for the wedding I made myself and Sweet E "Matchy" dresses. Oh...and She also wanted a headband. The dresses are made from Tropical Breeze fabric . Which, I think, is my favorite fabric to work with. Her eyes lit up when I gave her the dress and she said, "Mama! I'm a princess." :D So here are some pics from the "photo shoot." Next up is a wonderful pattern from the Handmade Dress . It is so simple and yet, you can do some many different details with it. Sweet E wanted buttons, but this dress doesn't need them. So, I just added them as detail to the hem and the yoke. So loved this one too...and so do I. ;o)

Show off some sewing!

Image
I wanted to take time to show off the outfits I made for Big T and Little E that I mentioned the other day. When I was making the pants for Big T the whole time I was afraid that they might be too tight. They ended up almost 4 inches too big! He doesn't even have to undo the button and zipper to get them off....without a belt they fall down to his ankles. Oh well...it was my first time using the pattern. I will know next time to go down a size and go up a size in length. Little E's overalls are so cute too. I think the only thing I would change would be the length of the straps. Everything else seemed to be pretty good. :D And I also thought I would show the fingertip mitts that I made for my sister. I think it is an Alexander Henry print. Aren't they cute? :D
