More Experiments......

I just wanted to share the experiments we did for our sun lessons yesterday. You can see in this picture all three: grapes-> raisins, sun tea, and a sundial.
We have had the grapes out since Friday I think. You can see that one got darker in color and most of them are "squishy" to the touch. We haven't had a lot of "scorchers" lately so this will take a while.
Then you can see our awesome sundial. ;o) The hardest part was that we had to move it to different positions in the yard (since we have a lot of shade different parts of the day.) It was fun to watch Big T....he would go out to "see if the shadow moved". He would go out...his eyes would get big and he would say, "Mama...it moved!"
No sun out today because we actually got rain! I couldn't believe it. It has been so long since waking up to rain...it's a wonderful sound. :D Well, better get things together for lessons today. Blessings to all! :D

(He actually ended up making seven!) Our local leather shop cut out the pieces for us which cut down on our work tremendously. Hopefully I can show off one that is much bigger soon. Last Saturday I had the chance to do something I had never done before. I put together a gingerbread house with my MIL and my children. My MIL made the gingerbread and then she had me help her assemble it and then decorate it. We didn't finish it all, but we hope to finish it this afternoon since she has the day off. I did it!

Yes, I did get up at 5am this morning. Two days in a row, that is a HUGE deal for me. Let's see if I can keep this up (but probably not on Sundays). Tomorrow will be the test. I am not the type of person that can sleep in two days in a row and then get up on time through the week. I am going to try to only allow myself (at first) to sleep in one day a week. We will see how that goes. ;) But, my quiet time the past two mornings has been wonderful! It's amazing how it totally changes my day. Today I was thinking about smiling. Do you know that people are drawn to a smile? It's true. Think about it. When you are out in a store or just out on a walk...there is something about a smile from someone. I guess it gives me "hope" that there are actually people out there with joy in their heart. Gotta wonderful sometimes with all the scowls I see.
