Show and Tell Friday (6/22/07)

Okay, it has been requested that I show a picture of my garden. Sorry it isn't the greatest but you can get a general over view. Due to the unusually dry weather we had the last month some things didn't do well at all. My strawberries I bought...forget it...I think I got 4 berries. When it was time for me to "replant" a few things, that is when I hurt my back and never got it done. At least my tomato plants are looking good. I hope that I get some bell peppers this year too. They have been really hard to grow the past couple of years. Anyway, here is the picture. On the left is my bed of various lettuce and my cherry tomatoes. The middle one has 2 mortgage lifter plants, bell pepper, eggplant (experimental for me...will have to wait and see how they do), and 1 spaghetti squash plant. Then my little bed off to the right are the strawberries. Now I am off to see what everyone else has! :)



*I forgot to say that Mortgage Lifter plants are a type of tomato and there are cabbages in the middle bed as well.*

What a wonderful thing to have. To have a vegetable garden is a dream of mine. I do hope your "experimentals" work:) Thanks so much for sharing and giving me and us ideas.

Ok, I have to ask, what is a mortgage lifter plant? The drought here has been awful, between the lack of rain and the squirrels my garden looks very sad.

I wondered what a mortgage lifter was, too -- same thing as a cash crop, something you raise to sell, I'm guessing? I love how you have them spaced. Very pretty plus easy to get to.

It looks simply loverly, darling! But, isn't that some cabbage in that middle bed? :-D You should be eating lots of salads. Don't pull the lettuce, cut it off at the ground and let it regrow. Thanks for the picture!

Your garden looks wonderful, your tomato plants are so big! A mockingbird ate all of our tomatoes..grrr. You'll have to have a tomato sandwich for me. :0)

They have had so much fun with those...pretending to be knights, pirates, and soldiers. Well, hubby decided that he could make them just as well or better. So here is a finished sword made by hubby. (He actually ended up making seven!) Our local leather shop cut out the pieces for us which cut down on our work tremendously. Hopefully I can show off one that is much bigger soon. Feel free to share pictures and if there's a story behind your special something, that's even better! Today I am taking part in Kelli's Show and Tell and her Giving Thanks week. Last Saturday I had the chance to do something I had never done before. I put together a gingerbread house with my MIL and my children. My MIL made the gingerbread and then she had me help her assemble it and then decorate it. We didn't finish it all, but we hope to finish it this afternoon since she has the day off. I am pretty proud of myself. Next year maybe the children and I can do this as a school project/activity. So...here is the gingerbread house in all it's glory. I hope to post a finished

Yesterday I was in our side yard raking up a pile of leaves for Sweet E to play in and I saw something out of the corner of my eye. It was bright red. I looked down and saw three bright red objects in the grass. I picked them up....I have never seen these before.
