I just thought I would share what I did for the past hour. Well, not real sure how long it took, but it wasn't long at all. I have been wanting a skirt to wear in the summer months. I really have my eye on a ankle length denim skirt, but that is practically impossible to find (unless you want it fitted...which I don't...I want flare). Anyway, after purchasing our van my funds are limited for a while. Well my mind started thinking about clothes I had in my closet. I remembered I had this maternity jumper in my closet.
I wore this when I was pregnant with Big T but it was too short for my taste. I am about 5'10" so it is hard to find clothing long enough. It hits me slightly above mid calf and I would rather have it ankle length. Anyway....I decided to make a skirt out of it. So, instead of taking forever and ripping out the serged stitches...I just cut it like this.
So now I had the bodice and the vest separated. Once I had that done I went to my machine and zigzagged the edges to keep it from fraying. Then I folded the waistline over so that my elastic would fit through and I stitched it down.
Once I had that done, and remember to leave an opening, I threaded the elastic through. (remember to measure your elastic around where you want the skirt to set so you don't have it too big or the dreaded...too small)
Once I had the elastic in I zigzagged the two ends together and stitched closed the opening I had left. Then....I got to try it on. It sets just below my waist (which is the way I prefer). I would have liked for it to have been a couple of inches longer, but I do like it this way.
Now... I just need to find a shirt to wear with it. Do you think white would be okay or do I need a tan or ecru? I have white, but not a short sleeved ecru? Decisions, Decisions..at least I have a skirt to wear on Saturday when I visit with my family. ;) Thanks for looking.

Creative as usual. :-) White would be just fine.
