Look....

At what Beloved found. He was outside mowing the yard and the next thing I knew he needed the camera. Well, I couldn't follow because I was giving the younger 2 children their nighttime baths. Anyway, Big T brings me the camera and here is what I saw.

I lightened the last picture so you could see it better. You can also click on the images to make them larger. Beloved said that when he came around the corner of the garage the bat just started shrieking like crazy. We thought it might be stuck under the rafter. It was hard to tell. Another bat decided it needed to fly very close to my head and I was ready to go in. When I asked if the bat was stuck Beloved said, "I don't know....I am not going to touch it with a stick to find out." But guess what? For those of you who know him you won't be surprised. His curiosity got the best of him and yes, he did poke it with a stick. It eventually flew off, but Big T liked checking out our new "neighbor."

Oh, why, why, why did I have to see these pictures before I went to bed?!?! I HATE bats! Oh, I feel ill! WHERE are those smelling salts?!?! AAARRRGGGHHH!

Amazing pictures, but quite gross. ;-) We once had over 500 bats in one of our chimney areas!! Yup, over 500. It was so funny because this chimney is on the outside of our house. It had pulled away a tiny bit making a space for the creatures to fly in...My son kept saying he heard stuff from what he thought was his bedroom wall. One day he was outside near the chimney and he yelled for me. I finally yeard the noise. So that evening as it was turning dark , my hubby and I sat in chairs to watch the chimney area. We counted as they flew out. We both gave up after counting 500. We ended up going the next evening after they had flown out, and we threw a net over the area and caulked where we could. It solved the problem. A church down the road had over 2,000!! The local college did a study on the bat population there!!

Not afraid of bats, but I must say that one sure has an impressive set of teeth. We have nectar bats here. They are the size of winged mice and they have NO teeth. The clean out the hummingbird feeder every night.

Oh my grossness!!!! Yuck yuck and double yuck!!! Funny, this AM my Mom called and said she wanted to tell me about their "bat" fiasco this AM and she said how they had a bat flying all over their downstairs and she was running with a shawl over her head and then she'd use it to whack at him!! Then she told me an old joke I had forgotten about (after I called her and my Dad the original "Batman" and "Batgirl" haha) --- what happened when a bulldozer ran over Batman and Robin? They turned into Flatman & Ribbon----haha ok...pretty lame, huh? Just wanted to say the bat pix freaked me and my kids out BIG TIME!! those teeth!! YIKES!!!!
