Lunch With Papa

Well, today was a special day. Why was it a special day? It was special because we were able to have lunch with Beloved. He works only about a block from the town square which is perfect for picnic lunches. They have a lot of picnic tables for people to be able to enjoy nice days on their lunch breaks. Now...I did not pack a picnic lunch. I have to confess we picked up our lunches on the way down to see Beloved. But the children enjoyed it. :-)

Oh well, at least we got to spend his lunch hour with him and make new friends. Want to see the children's new friends? Here they are...

Although Little E wanted nothing to do with them. He was happy eating his lunch. :-)

They even got to meet Mark Twain. LOL

But Mark Twain was a little boring for them, so they found new friends to play with. :-)

Just Little E's size too. But their new friends were too scared to run through the water, but Big T and Sweet E definitely were not!

Little E took the safe route...he ran around it. ;-) LOL

The older two then joined another group of friends for a photo op before taking Beloved back to his office.

We will have to join Beloved for lunch again soon, but next time we will bring better clothing to get wet in. ;-) I pray everyone is having a blessed week!

Demolition Time

Well, Beloved and the children have a new project going on. It's doing some demo work in the apartment and believe it or not....the children love helping. And the pictures are so cute I just have to share. :-) First, hubby got the wall tore out of the kitchen and the drop ceiling taken down. These pics are of the children helping take down the ceiling. This stuff wouldn't hold the weight of insulation so it definitely needs to be replaced. If you click on the picture you can see that Sweet E is even wearing her "pearls" to do the work. LOL

Sweet E and Big T took turns on the ladder. They keep asking when we are going to work on the apartment so they can swing a hammer some more. LOL

Big T wasn't sure about being up on the ladder at first, but as the evening went on...he climbed up there with no fear. Unfortunately these are the only pictures I have for now. But there is still a lot of work to be down, so I am sure I will be sharing more. :-)

Our Anniversary.......

I just wanted to share a few pictures from this past week. First up are the gorgeous flowers that I received. Aren't they so pretty? :-)

On our anniversary I purchased a window marker to leave a message for Beloved when he returned home from work. He liked it a lot. :-)

Then on Friday Beloved and I had the opportunity to spend the evening alone without the children. :-) My MIL kept the children for the evening. The children had a wonderful time spending the night with Nana and E-pa (that is what Little E calls grandpa). It was the first time for the younger two to spend the evening away from home. Anyway, Beloved and I had a wonderful dinner at the Alcove Restaurant in town. If you live near Mt. Vernon and have never eaten there...I highly suggest going at least once.

After our delicious dinner Beloved and I had a chance to relax at our little "cottage" at the Mt. Vernon Inn. This was a surprise for Beloved. I reserved the suite in January and he didn't know where we were staying until we got there. I tell you what...this was a nice place. Funny too, because it is only about 4 blocks from our house. LOL :-) Here are some pictures from our Suite. I told you it was nice. :-)

Notice the yummy chocolate I bought? This stuff is wonderful...notice the glasses too, because we bought those on our Honeymoon in North Myrtle Beach.

This is a really nice place to stay. We had a cute little fountain right outside our room and the garden(s) are gorgeous. Especially when everything else around is so brown and dry. It was an unusually chilly morning walking to breakfast (most unusual for July) but the gardens made the short walk enjoyable. And breakfast was delicious. Your breakfast is made to order and the dinning area/sun room is very pretty. Oh..and the first picture is of the "secret gate" to our suite.

So, there are some pictures from this past week. Hope everyone had a great weekend! :-)

Our 7th Wedding Anniversary!

**This is a repost from last year. Yeah I know, but with a lot of things to catch up was just easier than retyping this entire thing. LOL So just bear with me. **

Today is our 7th wedding anniversary! So much has happened in seven years, but we have been together for almost 10 years! (In September it will be 10 years since our first date). So, I wanted to take time to share some pictures with you. I have divided them up into groups: our engagement and our wedding.

I will first tell the story of our engagement. We had been together for 8 1/2 months when Hubby asked for my hand. And boy...was the proposal a good one. I had many friends jealous over this. That summer I was babysitting for 3 children and when I returned home from work I came home to an apartment filled (and I do mean FILLED!) with streamers and balloons. I think I had about a hundred balloons in my apartment and streamers were everywhere.

On the table were a dozen yellow roses (one of my utmost favorites) and a box. What was inside that box you say......It was a gorgeous black dress that he picked out for me and instructions to put on the dress and meet him at the place of our first meeting (we met on my college campus at Sonfest which is a Christian Concert type of event).

Anyway...I put on the dress and drove over to the college. Down in the grove there is a crick that has a bridge and on the bridge were more balloons and a note. That note had instructions to put on a blindfold. (Can you see the balloons on the bridge?)

Before I could put the blindfold on, a jogger came running by and said, "Am I interrupting?" So I put on the blindfold and I hear music playing and I hear hubby (well...boyfriend at the time) reading a poem to me that he had written. Then he had me take off the blindfold and asked me to marry him. I think I got my yes in there I was crying so hard. After this we went to his parents home and called my parents. Then it was off to a very nice restaurant called the Granville Inn. It was wonderful. It was a very beautiful place that I had never been to before. So anyway...that is my engagement story and now here are some of our "official" engagement pictures. Note that the black dress I am wearing is the one he gave to me the day he proposed.

Now...onto our wedding. We were married on July 13, 2002 (obvious I guess....) I graduated from college the end of May so I had a busy summer. Besides our wedding I think we had 4 or 5 others to go to. My friend from high school got married one week after us so we actually cut our honeymoon short a couple of days to make it back in time for hers. We got married in the town we live in now. The wedding was at the First Baptist Church and had our wedding reception at the Dan Emmett Conference Center . In this picture we are having a time of prayer after lighting the unity candle. You can see one candle in the lower left hand corner. All of our guests had candles and after we lit our candle we "passed on" the flame to the ushers who then passed the light on to the guests. It was such a beautiful sight. =)
Funny thing is...well maybe not funny...more like that neither one of us can wear our rings. Never thought I would have to think about loosing weight in my fingers! ;)

Here is the nifty car we had the privilege of riding away in. Our friend hadn't even had the car for a month!

I just had to show a picture of our cake. This was one of my favorite things. It tasted wonderful too! (even a year later.)

Thanks for looking at my post today. Sorry it was so long but I would have loved to share more pictures. Actually if I can find one I will show a picture of my parent's wedding sometime. Why? Because the dress I wore belonged to my Mother. Blessings to all on this wonderful day!

Gluten what?

So much stuff has happened the past month. First of all I can't believe it has been a whole month since I last posted! This summer is just flying right by and I feel (some days) that I haven't even had a chance to enjoy it. I figured a quick update was in order and maybe a reason or two for my absence from the blog(s). Well, first of all school is over so the other blog has slowed because of that very reason. As for this's SUMMER! I think that probably handles most things. When it is summer there are many, many things to do. Although the biggest adventure has been going gluten free for my hubby and the rest of the family is joining in. Talk about a learning curve! There is so much to take in. So instead of using whole wheat flour (or all purpose flour) I know use White Rice Flour, Brown Rice Flour, Sweet Rice Flour, Tapioca Starch, Arrowroot Starch, Millet Flour, Sorghum flour, Garbanzo Bean flour, Potato Flour and Potato Starch. Oh...and don't forget xanthum gum to make things sticky. I have made pizza, bread, and right now I have brownies in the oven. Next up is some flat bread for Beloved's lunch. I hope to have some pictures and more of a post for this adventure. Well, I better go check on my brownies now. Blessings to you all! And just so you know....tapioca flour and tapioca starch are the same thing, but potato starch and potato flour are not the same thing! Just in case you are curious. LOL
