New Dress

I was so happy with Sweet E's new dress I just had to show it off. The skirt fabric I purchased from a lady at the Sewing Mama's forum. The apple buttons on the back tie in nicely. This is my first time trying applique. I am very pleased with how it turned out. Everyone seems to like it. :D

Count Your Blessings Monday (10/29)

"I am giving us an opportunity every Monday to not only count our blessings, but to share them with others. This is a way that we can encourage one another. Make a post on your blog telling us about your blessing. Please put a link back to this post. You can add the URL of your blog post on Mr. Linky below. Many of our blessings we will have pictures of and we can share those as well. I think that many times we forget that it is a blessing to be able to breath, to get out of bed, to hold a baby... Share your blessings with us. They encourage others. We can share so many other things.... special gifts, recipes, let's take the time to share how God has blessed us!! -Marci"

I have never taken the time to take part of this....I don't know why, I just haven't. Today I decided is the day. The Lord has given me so many blessings that it is hard for me to imagine. I decided I wanted to share the blessing of getting to enjoy Autumn. Out of all of the seasons, Autumn is my favorite. I love the smell that is in the air, the crunching of leaves under my feet as I play outside with my children, and the rich colors that this time of year provides. Oh yes...and the exercise I get from raking the leaves. ;) Last week I had the opportunity to play outside with Sweet E and I wanted to show some pictures from this fun time. Little E was outside for a short time, but he just woke up from his nap and he wasn't very happy about being subjected to sitting in leaves. :D

Show and Tell Friday (10/26)

Welcome to "Show and Tell Friday!" Do you have a something special to share with us? It could be a trinket from grade school, a piece of jewelry, an antique find. Your show and tell can be old or new. Use your imagination and dig through those old boxes in your closet if you have to! Feel free to share pictures and if there's a story behind your special something, that's even better!

Yesterday I was in our side yard raking up a pile of leaves for Sweet E to play in and I saw something out of the corner of my eye. It was bright red. I looked down and saw three bright red objects in the grass. I picked them up....I have never seen these before. We are thinking they may possibly be wild strawberries, but are unsure since we have no prior experience with them. (really have no clue as to what they actually are.) And...what in the world would they be doing in the yard at the end of October! I just wanted to share pictures to see what everyone else thought. I thought it was so amazing to see and to find this time of year.

Who Knew?

Who knew that wood floors are hard to sleep on? I mean...I always thought they would be comfy cozy....NOT! Well, a couple of weeks ago Sweet E had a fever for 4 days (no other symptoms) and then a few days later Big T and Little E got it. Same thing...just a fever...nothing else. Little E's was over in 2 days, but Big T's lasted for 5 days! His temp was at 104 at one point. Now....hubby is sick. Doctor says it is tonsillitis. I can not afford to get sick....so I haven't been sleeping in bed with Hubby. But...I don't want to sleep downstairs in case on of the children needs help during the night and I can't sleep in their rooms because I may wake them up since I go to bed later and sometimes get up in the night. So...I have made a bed on the wood floor in our bedroom. Sure hope hubby gets over this soon. But I guess it is good training for mission work if God ever decides to send me. :D

Rainbows are just so fascinating.....Don't you think? Now..I am off to see what everyone else has today. :o)

"Snow Swords 4 Sale"

Okay...most of you saw the post that I made two days ago for show and tell. Well...we had such a good response that Hubby wanted me to let you all know that if you are interested Hubby will make them as orders come in. They will be $10 each and shipping will depend on the weight and distance they need to go. So...if you are interested email me at candle_by_night AT yahoo dot com or leave a comment here (I won't publish it) and we will get in touch with you. Come on now...you all know your children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews need one. :D

No...Not the Peel!!!!

My, oh my...what a weekend we have had. First of all...the crazy weather! I know Ohio's weather is always strange, but this hot 90 degree weather needs to go! Anyway, after our church service at the retirement center yesterday we took the children out to eat. While the older two were playing I was feeding Little E a banana. He seems to do just fine with the banana, no reactions or anything. Well, he somehow got his little fingers on the banana peel and started chewing on it. I took it from him and went back to talking with Hubby. Then we both looked at little E and he was all red and blotchy! So...he can eat the banana, but not the peel. :D What a crazy thing. Not like he should be eating the peel anyway I just don't know for sure what is making him break out. Oh yeah...after all of that we thought we had lost our digital camera. Not fun! We went searching and making calls only to finally find it at home once we arrived after our long day. When Little E got his diaper changed it must have gotten pulled out and no one remembered to put it back in. So...back to my day of laundry. :D

**Okay..I just looked at the forecast and they are predicting the high to only be 58 on Thursday. I have a feeling that the sniffles are going to be coming to this house. **

Show and Tell Friday (10/5)

Welcome to "Show and Tell Friday!" Do you have a something special to share with us? It could be a trinket from grade school, a piece of jewelry, an antique find. Your show and tell can be old or new. Use your imagination and dig through those old boxes in your closet if you have to! Feel free to share pictures and if there's a story behind your special something, that's even better!

When we went to the Fall Festival a couple of weeks ago Hubby bought the children wooden swords. They have had so much fun with those...pretending to be knights, pirates, and soldiers. Well, hubby decided that he could make them just as well or better. So here is a finished sword made by hubby. (He actually ended up making seven!) Our local leather shop cut out the pieces for us which cut down on our work tremendously. Hopefully I can show off one that is much bigger soon. Hubby decided that he needs some protection from Big T and Sweet E so he is making himself one. :)
**This wasn't my intention by posting these pictures, but Hubby did make some to sell at a Local Craft Fair. I just wanted to show off what my Hubby did and it is great to get so many compliments from everyone. He wasn't sure what others would think of them and if they would buy them. Now...he knows he could/can sell them. Thank you all for the kind words.**

Scrumptiously Sweet Cape Ensemble

I finished this awhile ago, but am just now able to share with you. Sweet E really likes it and I hope you do to. It's really quick and easy AND the yarn I used is nice and cozy. You can find the baby pattern here and the toddler pattern here. Anna has some wonderful designs. I am working on something else for her that I hope I can show very soon. :o)

Playing Catch Up

I know...I have been bad lately on updating this blog. I apologize...will you all forgive me? :o) About a week and a half ago my parents came up and went with us to Malabar Farm for the Fall Festival. Malabar was the home of the author, Louis Bromfield. I only ended up taking a few pictures. So I apologize to you all that there are not more...will have to ask my Mom for some. She is always snapping pictures. :) So here are pictures of Big T riding "Beauty" (yeah..I didn't get a good shot of the horse) and Sweet E riding on "Chief". Grandpa Walked with Sweet E to make sure she didn't pull a "Tumbleina" and fall off. :o)
They loved it. When Big T got on he immediately had a HUGE smile on his face...so much so that he couldn't say anything. :) He really loves horses. (Reminds me that I need to get back to the blanket I started a year ago and haven't touched since Little E was born.) There is so much to do there. They have a civil war encampment and they fire the cannons off every hour or half hour. I don't remember. They even do a live round one time during the day. We weren't there for that one though. It's loud enough just with the demonstration. Don't know about the guy wearing shorts in the pic...must have been a visitor that they pulled in for the demonstration.

To go from the upper level of the farm to the lower part you can either walk or take a wagon ride pulled by a team of horse. I don't know how many wagons and teams were there that day, but there was a variety of horses and types of wagons. Before we every got off of the wagon the first time Big T was already talking about riding again!

So..this past weekend our church had our "annual" Family camp. Well....this is the second year for it. I sadly do not have any pictures from it. I forgot my camera at home, but another family in the church brought theirs and are going to make sure I get some pictures from it. I missed a lot of the messages because I was tending to my children, but what I did get...was wonderful. I am so glad that I was able to "time" Little E's nap so that I could take part in communion and the foot washing service on Sunday. As I said..it really was wonderful.
There is so much that I could not write it all down. But the thing that has been sticking in my mind is what someone said about the cross. He talked about how we do wonderful things with the cross. That we have them on our mantels, make jewelry out of it, statues, etc. We do all of these beautiful things to something that is horrible. The cross is to rugged beams that are meant to have someone nailed to it and then left there until they die. He was talking about this with us being told that we are to "take up our cross". I don't think people understand the gravity of the situation sometimes. They were their crosses or have one in their home (which I have both...just so you know) but they don't understand that we are to die to ourselves (on our own cross). The cross is not some heirloom but something that we are to lay upon and give our lives to God. I don't know if I am making sense here, but I just wanted to share.

And to totally change gears I wanted to share one last picture. I have been calling Little E, Curious George lately because he gets into EVERYTHING! Well...this is a picture of one of the many predicaments he has gotten himself into lately. Just as I saved him from his predicament...how many times does God save us from situations we have put ourselves into? Blessings to all. I pray that you are having a wonderful and God challenged week. :o)
