Show and Tell Friday (10/5)

Welcome to "Show and Tell Friday!" Do you have a something special to share with us? It could be a trinket from grade school, a piece of jewelry, an antique find. When we went to the Fall Festival a couple of weeks ago Hubby bought the children wooden swords. They have had so much fun with those...pretending to be knights, pirates, and soldiers. Well, hubby decided that he could make them just as well or better. So here is a finished sword made by hubby. (He actually ended up making seven!) Our local leather shop cut out the pieces for us which cut down on our work tremendously. Hopefully I can show off one that is much bigger soon. Hubby decided that he needs some protection from Big T and Sweet E so he is making himself one. :)
**This wasn't my intention by posting these pictures, but Hubby did make some to sell at a Local Craft Fair. I just wanted to show off what my Hubby did and it is great to get so many compliments from everyone. He wasn't sure what others would think of them and if they would buy them. Now...he knows he could/can sell them. Thank you all for the kind words.**

How wonderful! We bought our son one at a Living History Exhibit here in Michigan a few weeks back, and he STILL runs around the house with it fighting off his 3 sisters ;).

Looks like so much fun! What is it with boys and swords and guns? I think it is something God put them in to be leaders and warriors and protectors. I have four sons and all four of them had swords, such fun!

Swords were one of my kids favorite things to play with when they were little!! The would use different things for shields--I think an old pizza pan and garbage lid!! what fun,, eh?

Great idea! Every boy needs a wooden sword. My son even had a wooden shield. That would be simple for your hubby to make! I've never seen a wooden sword with the leather handle, though. Nice touch!

Last Saturday I had the chance to do something I had never done before. I put together a gingerbread house with my MIL and my children. My MIL made the gingerbread and then she had me help her assemble it and then decorate it. We didn't finish it all, but we hope to finish it this afternoon since she has the day off. Yesterday I was in our side yard raking up a pile of leaves for Sweet E to play in and I saw something out of the corner of my eye. It was bright red. I looked down and saw three bright red objects in the grass. I picked them up....I have never seen these before. We are thinking they may possibly be wild strawberries, but are unsure since we have no prior experience with them. (really have no clue as to what they actually are.)
