Sweet E's Birthday (Just a little late)

Image
My 6 year old! Okay, I should have posted this ages ago. I know, I know. Shame on me for not being able to catch up with posting. But at least I am getting to it now. ;-) She asked for a doll cake again, but requested that it be pink this time. When I look at the picture from last year (the blue) and this year I can't help but remember the final scene in sleeping beauty (the Disney version). She loved all of her presents but the ultimate present was this princess dress from Nana S. Of course Big T step right in front of me when I went to snap the picture! She loves playing princess and this was just the greatest thing. Nana S worked hard on getting this made and even has an injury to show for it. ;-) I don't have any better pictures of the rest of her gifts. Had a hard time keeping Big T out of the way! Crazy boy........  She has used her stationary from Grandma K a LOT since her birthday. This little girl absolutely loves to write letters. So, not a massive post abo...

Soccer Time

Image
I am so far behind on posting pictures, but I promised my sister I would get some soccer pictures up. The first soccer game was August 28 th , but Sweet E is the only one that I got pictures of. Big T and Little E played at the same time and since we coach Little E's team....pictures did not happen that day. :-( But I did make up for not getting any pictures of Big T this past Saturday. I promised to get a lot of pictures and I did. :-) Still don't have any of Little E though. Running around a soccer field with a camera in my pocket doesn't seem like the best idea. Big T and Sweet E both scored a goal in their games. I missed seeing Sweet E's goal but I did get to see Big T dribble the ball all the way down the field and score! Anyway here are some pictures from Game #2 this past Saturday. There she goes! Then it was Big T's turn. And they're off! Now that is a face of determination! It looks like she is fending off the whole other team! I will do my best to po...

Sweet E's Birthday

Image
I knew I would forget to get these pictures up. ;-) But here they are. Better late than never. Sweet E actually wanted a blue cake this year. I couldn't believe it! So, since she wanted blue I decided to give her a blue skirt for her outfit this year as well. Last year I did a flower on the front of her shirt. With the blue print I decided to go with a silhouette of Sunbonnet Sue and then the #5 is on the back. This skirt gave me a hard time. Well, the pattern wasn't too bad. It was my serger that tested my patience. Thanks to having difficulty with my serger I spent almost 2 hours longer on the skirt than needed. At least I finished it and she loves it. :-) It has just the right amount of twirl. Sweet E wanted a strawberry cake with chocolate icing. No complaints here. I love ganache! Yes, my decorating skills are lacking but I love creating a cake for my child's birthday. To save money, instead of buying a special doll pan to make the skirt, I made the skirt out of crispi...

Birthday Dress Done

Image
It is very late, but I wanted to show the birthday dress I finished this morning for Sweet E ( I guess it would have been yesterday morning now....) Anyway...just some quick pictures and I hope to post more tomorrow on here and our school blog. :-)

What's Pink and Black all over?

The new jumper I finally finished for Sweet E. It took me way too long to get it started, but I finally did last night and finished it this morning. If you are looking for a quick and cute jumper for a little girl. This is it. You can find it at the Handmade Dress ...it's called the Miss Molly. Anyway, I had to have my sister find a plain black shirt for Sweet E because I couldn't find any her size. I love sewing for her because she gets so excited. She says, "Oh! Thank you Mama...I love it!" What's better then that? So when I went to take a picture of her in it....the model in her came out. ;-)

Sounds like.....

Sweet E talking to Beloved: Sweet E-> "You sound like a hippopotamus. I gotta fix you." Don't children just say the cutest things. :D Beloved had a good laugh from that. :o) To fix Beloved she went and got her little orange reflex hammer, tapped it on his belly, and said, "There...you're fixed."

I Love Free Stuff!

Image
A couple of weeks ago I...*ahem* wasted time signing up for a lot of giveaways. But, I must say it paid off and I just "had" to show off one of the things I one. I got an email from the wonderful ladies at Marie-Madeline Studio saying I won their gracie ruffle skir t for Sweet E! When it came in the mail Sweet E was so happy. Before they sent the skirt to me I had asked for any scraps from the skirt to make an outfit for Sweet E. They happily gave me some scraps and I was able to applique on a shirt to finish an outfit for her. She was so happy when she got to wear it to church today and I wanted to show some pictures. **I also need to add the I won the head covering Sweet E is wearing from Garlands of Grace . Sweet E claimed it as soon as I opened the package. :D**

I can finally breath!

Image
Oh my, this past week has been so busy. I feel like I can finally take a breath now. As you all know Sweet E's birthday was yesterday, but I have a lot to catch up on. Sunday we had our church service and then the service at the Retirement Home. Afterwards we were blessed to have dinner with Beloved's family and have a small "pre-birthday" bash. :D Oh, and I stayed up until 2:30 Sunday Morning to finish Sweet E's dress for the day. What was I thinking! Oh well, at least she likes it and so did everyone else. This is what I had to stare at Saturday night. I love European patterns, but this is only my third time sewing something from Ottobre (You can find the link in my side bar) Anyway, this (see below) can be very intimidating when you want it ready for the next day. What you are looking at are pattern pieces for roughly 6 patterns. You just have to follow the colored outline for the pattern you want. Simple enough? ;o) Well, here is the finished product along wi...
