I apologize that I haven't been around for a week or so. But here is the reason why.....
No, they aren't bananas and peaches. Instead...the boxes are filled with......
APPLES! That's right....4 bushels. I know, I know...I am insane for tackling 4 bushels alone, but I did. Here is a pick of my first batch of apple butter being put in the crockpot for the night.
After a couple of days of some work and one of them included me being up for 24 hours! Yes, I got in bed at 7 am Saturday morning as Beloved was getting out of bed. Here is a pick of all of my hard work (minus one pint of apple butter and a few quarts of applesauce.)
So I roughly canned 40 quarts of applesauce and some pints and half pints of apple butter. Yummy! Now that the apples are done I hope to post more. Blessings to all. :D
Welcome to "Show and Tell Friday!" Do you have a something special to share with us? It could be a trinket from grade school, a piece of jewelry, an antique find. Your show and tell can be old or new. Use your imagination and dig through those old boxes in your closet if you have to! Feel free to share pictures and if there's a story behind your special something, that's even better! When we went to the Fall Festival a couple of weeks ago Hubby bought the children wooden swords. They have had so much fun with those...pretending to be knights, pirates, and soldiers. Well, hubby decided that he could make them just as well or better. So here is a finished sword made by hubby. (He actually ended up making seven!) Our local leather shop cut out the pieces for us which cut down on our work tremendously. Hopefully I can show off one that is much bigger soon. Hubby decided that he needs some protection from Big T and Sweet E so he is making himself one. :) **This wasn...
Yes, I did get up at 5am this morning. Two days in a row, that is a HUGE deal for me. Let's see if I can keep this up (but probably not on Sundays). Tomorrow will be the test. I am not the type of person that can sleep in two days in a row and then get up on time through the week. I am going to try to only allow myself (at first) to sleep in one day a week. We will see how that goes. ;) But, my quiet time the past two mornings has been wonderful! It's amazing how it totally changes my day. Today I was thinking about smiling. Do you know that people are drawn to a smile? It's true. Think about it. When you are out in a store or just out on a walk...there is something about a smile from someone. I guess it gives me "hope" that there are actually people out there with joy in their heart. Gotta wonderful sometimes with all the scowls I see. Make sure you have a smile on your face today. :) Oh...the other night when we went to the store Sweet E was so happy. When we w...

Feel free to share pictures and if there's a story behind your special something, that's even better! I know it has been a while ago, but I believe Kelli showed some "glimpses" of a book called Foods and Homemaking . I remembered that I had that book too. Hubby found it years ago at an auction along with a book called A Girl's Problems in Home Economics . The book in the center, I believe, belonged to Hubby's grandmother. I really need to try making something from this cookbook ( The Victory Cookbook ). I got intimidated when I saw bread call for a "cake" of yeast. At the time I had absolutely no idea what that meant. So anyway, I thought this would make a ne...
